heimdall-flash software package provides tool for flashing firmware on Samsung Galaxy S devices, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install heimdall-flash
heimdall-flash is installed in your system.
Make ensure the heimdall-flash package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep heimdall-flash *
You will get with heimdall-flash package name, version, architecture and description in a table
